Staige was affiliated with Lang Associates for 34 years, beginning as an Associate, then Manager, and becoming President and Owner in 1992. When Lang Associates merged with McLaughry Associates in 2007, Staige became CEO of what was Lang McLaughry Real Estate, a firm serving both Vermont and New Hampshire with approximately 140 Realtors and 22 Staff, in 16 offices. In January of 2015, the business evolved once more to become Four Seasons Sotheby's International Realty, through merger and acquisition of two additional regional leaders, Vermont Country Properties Sotheby's International Realty, and Four Seasons Sotheby's International Realty. The firm today is made of 18 offices, over190 Realtors, and 40 dedicated Staff.

He believes in community; he has acted as Board Chair of the Vermont Business Roundtable, Vermont Public Radio, the Vermont Community Foundation and the Vermont Mozart Festival. He currently serves on the Board of the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts as Vice Chair. He has served on the Boards of the University of Vermont School of Business, Champlain College, the Vermont Arts Council, and the Vermont Technology Council. Staige has served as Governor's Appointee to several Commissions and Special Projects, and is currently serving on Congressman Peter Welch's Business Advisory Council.

Staige made Vermont his permanent home after receiving a BA from the University of Vermont in 1977. He is father to two: Greta, a recent graduate of Wake Forest University and Staige IV, currently attending Norwich University. In his free time, Staige enjoys a good snowfall for Alpine skiing, Lake Champlain and the coast of Maine for boating and sailing, and the plentiful year-round opportunities our area offers in the visual and performing arts.
