Martha Adger

Broker Associate

Comprehensive knowledge of Houston’s finest neighborhoods, sophisticated marketing, and high-end construction techniques, combined with excellent business relationships with premier home builders, makes Martha Adger an irreplaceable asset to her many clients. Consistently included among Martha Turner Sotheby’s International Realty’s annual top-10 producers, Martha lists and sells in all of Houston’s traditional high-end neighborhoods from the Museum District and River Oaks to Tanglewood, Stablewood, and the Memorial Villages.

A marketer par excellence, Martha has more than 45 years of experience in marketing and selling premier real estate. A Houston native, she grew up in Tanglewood and attended The Kinkaid School. Shortly after graduating from the University of Texas, Martha began selling high-end residential and investment properties in Houston and ranked second among an elite sales force of 50 real estate associates.

When Sotheby’s Auction House opened Sotheby’s International Realty in New York in 1976, Martha was intrigued. In 1979, she applied for the position of SIR Director of Real Estate Referral Services, was hired, and moved to New York. As director, Martha managed 300 real estate brokers and support staff assisting national and international clientele in all aspects of relocation. On her watch, SIR’s referral services client base increased from zero to 1,000, and their broker base increased from 15 to 300 worldwide.

After four years in New York, Martha returned to Houston as vice president for public relations for a local, independent, luxury real estate firm. She supervised all of the firm’s public relations activities with national and international media, including television, radio, newspapers, and magazines.

In 1986, Martha once again went to work for SIR as vice president and regional manager of the company’s southwest division based in Houston. Her portfolio included all real estate marketing activities in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico, and Colorado. Under Martha’s stewardship, SIR increased its regional listings from 2 to 30 in an 18-month period.

Martha’s career changed direction completely in 1988 when a new, 76-acre, luxury gated development surrounding the Houstonian complex, Stablewood, broke ground. As the city’s first guarded subdivision, the 125-homesite neighborhood was an innovation. Martha became Stablewood Director of Sales and Marketing and shepherded all transactions on lots and “spec” homes from inception to close. She held that post for 12 years until the subdivision became established and resales began, at which point she continued listing and selling primarily in Stablewood as an independent realtor.

In 2005, Martha joined Martha Turner Properties, which became Martha Turner Sotheby’s International Realty in 2013. Her outstanding sales production placed her in the company’s Circle of Excellence and, in 2009, earned her membership in the Circle of Excellence Hall of Fame. In 2022, Martha received the first Martha Turner/Sotheby's International Realty Excellence Award.
