Laura Barber brings over 25 years of real estate experience to Sotheby’s International Realty with over 22 of those years living and working in both Santa Fe and Los Alamos. The result is a unique combination of expertise, coupled with an excellent understanding of both real estate markets.

As a native New Mexican fascinated by the vibrant culture and rich heritage of the Land of Enchantment, Laura has a keen appreciation and understanding of the unique landscape and architecture of Northern New Mexico. Born in Los Alamos, New Mexico, Laura grew up primarily in Albuquerque and later completed her undergraduate work at New Mexico State University with both Finance and Management degrees, and a Minor in Economics. While embarking on a career in corporate finance in the Entertainment Industry in Southern California, Laura found her true calling and began to cultivate a strong interest in both architecture and design that has spanned several decades and encompasses the following elements: investment property valuation and acquisition, real estate development, luxury home construction, residential remodeling, historic renovation, property management, homeowner’s association management, and interior design.

Returning to her New Mexico roots, Laura and her husband, Ted, moved to Los Alamos where she began a 22-year career at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) as an Intellectual Property Specialist and, later, as a Business Development Executive. In this capacity, she was responsible for marketing technology and negotiating license agreements and other contracts with a goal of transitioning commercially viable technologies out of the laboratory and into the commercial marketplace. During her career at LANL, Laura had the distinct honor and privilege of completing negotiations training at both Harvard School of Business and the Franklin Pierce Law Center. Laura subsequently completed her Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) degree and, in 1998, she and her husband moved to Santa Fe, where they acquired property, and designed and built several luxury custom homes in the Tano Road area. They later acquired additional investment properties in Las Campanas, thus gaining first-hand experience with two of Santa Fe’s most desirable communities.

Extensive knowledge, dedication, hard-work, and impeccable integrity are all attributes that describe Laura. She is an excellent communicator and is considered a “people” person. Her finance background, coupled with extensive marketing and negotiations experience, provide qualifications uniquely suited to the real estate market. Laura is committed to providing clients with unparalleled, exceptional customer service to facilitate all of their real estate transaction needs, as well as the realization of their dreams.

Laura and her husband are truly grateful to raise their son in such a beautiful and inspiring place as Santa Fe, where they enjoy golf, tennis, swimming, and fishing. Other favorite hobbies include abstract painting with acrylics, camping and hiking with her husband and son.
