A native East Texan, born in Carthage, one of five kids growing up in Gladewater. He received a BBA/Finance from the University of Texas; MBA from University of Texas at Tyler; Graduate of the School of Banking of the South (LSU); Graduate Real Estate Institute with GRI designation. His other educational endeavors include New Home Sales, Short Sales, and Real Estate Negotiation, among others.

The transition into real estate was made after a distinguished 40+ year career in banking serving in a variety of community leadership bank positions and locations. Larry believes it is exciting to meet new people, learn new geographies, and take on unfamiliar challenges. “Life should not be boring.” Larry transitioned into real estate in 2015 with encouragement from a local Athens broker. After a two-year stint back in banking he joined Staples-Sotheby’s International Realty at the referral of another well-known Athens broker who expressed deep appreciation for broker Dana Staples.

Larry is a member of Lake Athens Baptist Church; sings baritone with Men For Him, a Christian barbershop acapella group; and sings bass in the Athens Community Chorus. Larry has an extended family beyond his grown children, and five grands. He enjoys fishing, reading, music, C&W dancing, and life.

Larry believes his best strength for clients is his experience in a variety of challenges and issues in business and life. “I have personally bought and sold many homes, financed hundreds of properties, originated mortgages, compiled many Broker Price Opinions/BPO’s, enjoyed a lot of successes, learned some lessons, and survived many economic cycles.”

With Staple-Sotheby’s International Realty, I get to list and sell properties in Texas… the most vibrant economy in the world, and more specifically, in beautiful East Texas. He has extensive knowledge of Henderson and the surrounding counties, including Lake Athens, Lake Palestine, Cedar Creek Lake while selling and showing farms and ranches, luxury homes, vacation properties, starter homes, and homes for retirement. Each has its own challenges. Larry admits he is not much of a decorator with his artistic talents limited in that area, but he knows some very talented decorators! “I believe the best days of my life are ahead of me.”
