Karen Heyman

Senior Global Real Estate Advisor, Licensed Salesperson

Karen Heyman has consistently ranked in the top 25 Sotheby's International Realty agents nationwide since joining the company in 2006 and has been the company’s top Brooklyn broker since then. In 2016, Karen closed $348 million in sales, making her the #1 top-producing Sotheby’s International Realty agent nationwide, and #1 agent for Sotheby’s International Realty in all of New York City. Karen was also ranked the #8 Agent in America by the prestigious Wall Street Journal in 2016. In an issue of New York Living magazine, Karen was named one of the top condo specialists in Manhattan and The Real Deal named Karen the #1 Brooklyn Broker (2011) in its first-ever “Brooklyn Broker Ranking.” Several Brooklyn developers have lauded her as their “Broker of the Year” for the significant number of Brooklyn new development sales she has completed.

Karen, a Senior Global Real Estate Advisor, has expertise that has earned her a loyal following of clients who first got to know her when she found them their starter homes. Today, Karen is helping these same clients purchase multi-million dollar townhouses and apartments. Although Karen knows Manhattan from top to bottom, she specializes in the West Side, from TriBeCa up to Columbia University. She is also the area specialist for DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass), Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill and Boerum Hill, adjacent to Brooklyn Heights. Karen has closed more than 700 transactions in DUMBO since 1998, generating more than $1 billion in sales volume. She holds the record for selling the highest priced home in Brooklyn in 2012 and in June 2015. In 2014, Karen closed over $115 million with an additional $160 million in contract. In 2015, she closed over $100 million with an additional $170 million in contract.

Before starting her real estate career, Karen worked as a corporate headhunter. By 1984, she made the switch to residential real estate and was managing the conversion of over 1,600 cooperative apartments. In the late 1980s, Karen moved to Florida, where she worked on-site renting luxury apartments, but she soon returned to Manhattan, helping celebrities and real estate investors buy into the ever-changing market. When Karen is not working, she is working. That is why so many owners love to give her their exclusives.

Karen prides herself on three things: her ability to match people to property, her track record for breaking sales records in every building she handles and, perhaps most importantly, helping people get wealthy from their real estate investments.

Karen actively supports Camp Brooklyn, which helps send Brooklyn kids to camp, PS8 PTA, the Brooklyn Children's Museum, Brooklyn Community Foundation, St. Francis College, Maimonides Cancer Center, the Robin Hood Foundation, Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy, the American Red Cross and the Brooklyn Autism Center, donating a portion of each commission she receives. In February 2007, Karen received an official citation from the Brooklyn borough president's office for her charitable work on behalf of the children of Brooklyn. Karen also enjoys contributing to the arts and is a proud supporter of The Joyce Theater and Dance to Unite.
