Josie Tong feels right at home on the Westside of Los Angeles, known for its vibrant, upscale communities with a neighborhood feel and an international flair. Josie leverages her 20+ years of consulting, accounting, marketing, and management expertise to help local and international buyers and sellers achieve their goals in the competitive real estate market. Josie is experienced in handling complex transactions, serving as a focal point between clients’ attorneys, private bankers, and advisors across multiple time zones around the world. She speaks fluent English, Mandarin, and Cantonese and holds a BA in accounting and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.

Josie believes in philanthropy, especially the humanitarian principles and missions of the Red Cross. She is a member of the American Red Cross LA Regional Board and the American Red Cross Tiffany Circle National Council. She was the Chair of the LA Region Tiffany Circle from January 2017 - June 2018. Josie recently represented the American Red Cross in the sale of their historic mansion and a Cultural Heritage Landmark, the Cravens Estate in Pasadena, California. Josie and her business partner donated 100% of their 6-figure commissions and marketing expenses back to the Red Cross from this significant sale.

Josie loves to travel and enjoys different cuisines. She networks extensively with her clients, other Sotheby’s International Realty agents, investors, and private bankers during her travels worldwide. In 2018, she made several trips to Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. In October 2018, Josie and her daughter journeyed on the Trans-Siberian Railway from Beijing through Mongolia and Siberia to Moscow and St. Petersburg. Along the way, they visited Lake Baikal, the largest and deepest body of fresh water on earth. In April 2019, they visited Finland and saw the elusive Northern Lights. In October 2019, Josie will be embarking on a 100KM hike on the Camino de Santiago in Spain.

Josie loves jewelry, a passion she shares with the jewelry specialists at Sotheby’s auction house. She has attended auctions in New York and Hong Kong and met with auction specialists in various fields from around the world. For the past few years, she has been invited to co-host, with Sotheby’s experts, afternoon teas and private viewings for her guests at Sotheby’s LA auction office to preview the traveling exhibits of magnificent jewels, watches, and other treasures. Josie understands the synergy between the auction and real estate businesses and takes full advantage of the Sotheby’s network to serve and bring joy to her clients.

Josie also enjoys current affairs, art, and architecture. As an active member in the community, she is on the Advisory Board of the Iris Cantor-UCLA Women’s Health Center, a member of the Decorative Arts & Design Acquisition Committee at Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and a former trustee of the Pacific Asia Museum in Pasadena. She is also a member of the Pacific Council on International Policy, LA World Affairs Council, Fellows of Contemporary Art, Pacific Palisades Woman’s Club, Pacific Palisades Chamber of Commerce, and Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce.

Josie’s extensive network makes her a valuable resource beyond real estate for her clients. Whether it’s a referral to address an emergency or an introduction for business development purposes, Josie is always willing to share and connect people.
