John-Michael serves as President of the Colorado Avalanche Alumni Association, a group that is dedicated to growing youth hockey at the grassroots level through charitable causes, and supports the Colorado Avalanche hockey club in their youth hockey development program, Mile High Mites. He is also on the board of the Vail Mountaineer Hockey Club and enjoys mentoring young athletes with the Royal Bank of Canada on financial literacy.

Prior to real estate, John-Michael earned a degree in Finance from Michigan State University, followed by 14 years in the National Hockey League before retiring and settling in Vail. He had the honor of playing for Team USA in the 2004 World Cup, the 2005 and 2009 World Championships, and the 2006 Olympics in Torino.
