Following a 37-year career in financial services, John Burton was recruited by his wife Karen to join her real estate practice at Sotheby's International Realty.


During his career in financial services, John's primary focus was institutional retirement plans in the corporate, healthcare, not-for-profit, and higher education markets. His primary responsibility during the first half of his career was centered around developing client relationships and assisting clients in the areas of plan design, plan implementation, ongoing technical guidance, and employee education and enrollment. During the second half of his career, he transitioned to a regional sales executive role focused on generating new business opportunities in large plan markets in New England and beyond.


John's educational and career backgrounds have well-positioned him for a career in real estate. His ability to effectively communicate and his creative problem-solving approach together with his service orientation and institutional sales background has been instrumental in working with clients.

John is a graduate of Hobart College with a B.A. degree in math and economics. He also obtained the designation of a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS).
